Erosion

Erosion is a natural process but can be be excacerbated by human land use. Land used for agriculture experiences a greater rate of erosion than land under natural vegetation, or land used for sustainable agriculture practices.

Groundcover is a key aspect in controlling erosion because it reduces the erosive effect of raindrops falling on bare soils and the ability of wind to remove soil particles.

Clarence Landcare works with the community in dealing with erosion management issues caused by flooding, loss of vegetation, overgrazing and livestock and assists landholders to implement sustainable grazing systems on their properties that help improve groundcover and soil health.
