Landcare Nurseries
Clarence Landcare nurseries grow a range of plants that are native to our region. Nursery staff can provide advice on suitable plant species selection for all areas of the Clarence Valley.
Local Plants for Revegetation Projects
A large diversity of plant species and vegetation communities occur in the Clarence Valley. Their distribution and geographic ranges are largely dependent upon preferred soil conditions and other significant environmental influences. Therefore, using local native plants contributes significantly to improving biodiversity. This is taken into account for bush regeneration and habitat restoration planning and project delivery.
Our advice and recommendations are based on our plant species records from site visits and project implementation over many years.
Native Plant Nursery Network
In the Clarence Valley we are lucky to have eight native plant nurseries as part of our Nursery Network. Volunteers run most, and you could be one of them! See the list to find out where your local nursery is. Click the links to find out more or contact them if you would like to be a part of their team.
We want your seed!
Get involved in seed collection! Our nurseries are always after fresh, local seed, and we need more seed collectors. Seed collecting is an easy way to contribute to the local Landcare nurseries if potting and weeding aren’t your thing.
There are right and wrong ways to go about collecting seeds. If you would like to get involved you can contact us to find out when and when any seed collection training events are being held. Alternatively, check out the Florabank guidelines and work through the free modules.
