Community Support
Much of the work we do at Clarence Landcare provides support to the community to help manage their land.
At Clarence Landcare, we are dedicated to supporting the community through various programs and initiatives designed to provide guidance, resources, and expertise to landowners, farmers, and residents in the Clarence region. Our goal is to help individuals make informed land management decisions that enhance their land’s health and productivity.
Our support includes organising workshops on sustainable farming practices, conducting revegetation projects, assisting with weed and pest control, and providing advice on conservation practices. By offering these services, we empower the community to take proactive steps in preserving the natural beauty and biodiversity of our area for future generations.
In addition to these practical initiatives, Clarence Landcare is committed to fostering a sense of belonging and connection among community members. We believe that the relationships we build are the foundation of our success. That’s why we host networking events, field days, and social gatherings that create a collaborative and supportive environment. These activities encourage knowledge sharing, skill development, and the building of strong relationships within the community.
Through our collective efforts and shared experiences, we can effectively address environmental challenges and work towards sustainable land management practices that benefit the land and the people who depend on it. By working together, we aim to create a resilient and thriving region.
Projects
Clarence Valley Bushfire Recovery & Preparedness
This project allowed us to work with landholders that were directly impacted by the 2019/20 Black Summer bushfires to provide Resilience Packages that will assist with infrastructure and equipment for bushfire preparedness and protection. Training and workshop events were held to assist landholders with recovery and fire preparedness. Ten community water tanks were installed in the Taloumbi village to provide a static water supply dedicated to the Rural Fire Service for firefighting. The project also documented the loss of stock, farming, and collectable cultural icons in the Clarence Valley, including historically significant and personally valuable vehicles and equipment.
Delivery: 2022-2024
Funded By: Commonwealth Government’s Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program
